School Security and Student Safety Window Films

SCHOOL SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY

School Security films are designed to be used in conjunction with other measures to add an additional layer of security as part of the overall system. Security window films are not designed to be the solitary solution. So, what is it exactly?

School Security window film can be clear, tinted or reflective and is an added layer of polyester film that is applied to a building’s existing windows on the interior surface of the glass. The film comes in a variety of different thicknesses and can be installed in several different ways depending on the level of safety or security required.

Once installed, this film will hold the glass fragments of the window together in the event of a break. As it relates to school safety and security, this film will hold glass fragments together and reduce the potential of injury from broken or flying glass in a natural disaster, an act of terrorism or inadvertent breakage.

Developed For Fragment Retention

3M™ Safety and Security films are designed to reduce the risks of injuries caused by shattered glass due to natural or human causes. They have been extensively tested on different types of glass and blast loads to provide protection against flying glass shards and other related hazards.

Fortify Weak Entry Points from Intruders

The vulnerability of windows and doors as entry points to a building can be reduced by using 3M™ Safety and Security Window Film. The film holds the broken glass together, making it difficult for anyone to break and enter through a broken door or window.

Gain Extra Response Time

Delaying an intruder’s entry and discouraging unwanted individuals from accessing a building can provide response teams with more time to arrive and restrain them. It also enables school staff to activate safety protocols and take appropriate measures.

Quick & Cost Effective Solutions

3M™ Safety and Security Window Film is a quick and cost-effective solution for upgrading existing glass to meet safety standards. The film can be installed over existing glass and can provide a payback in as little as three years, especially when combined with 3M™ Sun Control films. This solution is much more affordable than replacing the glass with tempered glass or other retrofit safety solutions.

Houses of Worship

Safety and security film can offer invaluable benefits when installed in a house of worship. By applying this protective film to windows and glass doors, the congregation and religious leaders can have an added layer of security against potential threats such as forced entry, vandalism, or natural disasters. In the event of breakage, the film helps hold the glass together, reducing the risk of injury from shattered glass fragments.
